I just got my 1994 Pre-Mattel Samantha from the hospital and they completely ignored my instructions and replaced her body! With a cheaper one that has plastic neck ties! There was nothing wrong with the doll's original body! She was only supposed to have her limbs tightened. Now I have to send Samantha back to have her old body/strings put back on. When I asked AG Hospital why they did this, all they could tell me is that they don't throw away the old bodies and that they were "sorry". (Everyone knows the PM dolls have softer plush cloth bodies, they were probably hoping I would be too dumb to tell the difference) What would Pleasant T. Rowland say if she knew how Mattel is taking shortcuts, being incompetent and cheapening the quality of her products?

All I can say is wow! Scary! Now you have to send her off again!

The funny thing about this is I was just thinking of either sending a doll in or trying to doing it myself to tighten the linbs. Since I read the post about now putting plastic ties in the new doll...the short cuts...I thought I wonder if they would just put a new body on instead and this is a PM doll! I would be so upset!

I guess I better just go ahead and do it myself. It doesn't look that it's that hard to do.

No, it isn't hard to do; and to me, it's scary to send a PM doll to the hospital, so I re-string my own. Just be sure to get the right tools and materials, as outlined in the justmagicdolls.com website. It may be a little pricey to begin with, but it's an investment that pays for itself, especially when you consider all the shipping you'll save by maintaining your own dolls!
For those who don't feel comfy re-stringing their own, I can do it for you with a quick turnaround (and NO limb or body replacement risks)--just PM me.

Oh..I'm sorry that happened to your Sam..
When I had to get my Samantha's leg fixed{It broke off somehow...} They tightened her head w/ one of those plastic electrical tie things...{I'll take a picture of her neck so you know what I'm talking about} & They took her string ties compleatly out of her neck.....Her neck is acctually stronger than it was be fore {so far} But my Samantha had those neck ties for about 7 YEARS.

Oh well....There's not much that we can do w/ Mattel now incharge...

Robin I might just take you up on that. I'm sure I would be able to do it myself, but to find the time isn't always easy.

Have you ever done any Tonner dolls?

Oh no!!! I'm sorry to hear about this. That's one reason I'd be so afraid to send my white-torso Molly in for an eye replacement (and won't). I hope everything is worked out in the end. Good luck!

    Thumbs up

I bought a pm Addy on ebay a while back, and she came with a silver eye. I sent her in for a head replacement and she came back with the plastic tie and the hole where the string went through looks like it was ripped a little bit and it looks horrible. Also the wig on her new head is really loose, you can feel "bubbles" under her hair where it's not glued down. I was sooo disappointed. I'd like to sell her and get a brand new Addy. Brooke, I would call AG CS and ask for another replacement. I wouldn't sell her on ebay. That would just present someone else with the problems. I sent in a bitty baby and she came with the plastic tie and also had a place in her neck where there was a ripped hole. DD was not happy with this. The hairpaint was rough, too. I thought that was how all the the new bitties hairpaint was. But anyway, over time the hairpaint started to fade or wear off(not little rubs or nicks)so I called CS. They sent me a return label and gave me a whole new doll- with neck strings!
